In the name of God Amen The Nyneteenth day of September
in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand six hundred Fifty and
three I John Broxon the elder of Heath and Rach in the parish of
Laighton Bussard in the County of Bedford yeoman beinge Sicke and
weake of of body but of good and perfect memory praise be to Allmighty
god And knoweing the uncertenty of death and the incertainety of
the time doe make and ordaine this my present last will and Testament
in manner and forme Followinge That is too Saye First and principally
I bequeath my Soule into the hands of Allmighty god my Creato[r]
and of his Sonn Jesus Christ my blessed Redeemer Trustinge only
through the merritts of his pretious death and passion to obtaine
life eternall And my body to the Earth from whence it was taken
to bee buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafternamed
And Concerninge that Small Temporall Estate wherewith god hath
blessed mee I bequeath and bestowe as Followeth Inprimis I give
unto John Broxon my Eldest Sonne That Part of my Freehold Cottage
or Tennement with the backside and Appurten[a]nces to the Same
belonginge now in the Tenure or occupation of my Sayd Sonne John
To hold to him and his assignes dureinge the Terme of his naturall
life Provided allwaies that my Sayde John Shall dureinge his life
allowe John Bloxon the youngest my grandchild Sonne of the Sayd
John my Sonne quietly to inhabite with him dureinge the Terme And
in Case the Sayd John my Sonne Shall refuse to Suffer the Sayd
John my Grandchild to inhabite with him or if the Sayd John my
grandchild Shalbee minded to departe from his Sayd Father Then
my Will and meaninge is that the Sayd John my Sonne Shall pay yearely
dureinge his life the Somme of Fifteene Shillings of Currant English
money at two equall Termes in the yeare The first payment to begin
within three moneths after my decease if hee Shall not abide with
his father as aforesayd And if my Sayde Sonne John Shall refuse
to pay the Sayde Annuity of Fifteene Shillings to my Sayd grandchild
Then I give and bequeath the Sayd part of my Cottage or Tenement
before mentioned unto the Sayd John my grandchild dureinge the
life of his Sayd Father the Sayd Annuity or yearely Somme of Fifteene
Shillings beinge payd by my grandchild out of the premisses unto
his Sayd Father dureinge his life at Such dayes and times as aforesayd
Provided further that my Sayd Sonne John or John my grand Child
their assigne or assignes or any of them doe \not/ Committ uppon
the p[re]mises anie manner of Wast or Spoyle dureinge the Sayd
Terme Item I give and bequeath unto the Sayde John my grandchild
the Reversion and reversions of the Sayd part of my Cottage or
Tenement with the Appurten[a]nces after the death or decease of
John my Sonne To hold to him and the heires of his body lawfully
to bee begotten And for want of Such issue to my grandhild Second
Sonne of my Sayd Sonne John and to the heires of his body lawfully
to bee begotten And for want of Such issue To the right heires
of my Sonne John Broxon forever Item I give and bequeath unto William
Broxon my Second Sonne That other part of my Freehold Cottage or
Tennement with the backside and Appurten[a]ncs to the Same belonginge
now in the occupation of the Sayd William my Sonne To hold to him
dureinge the Terme of his naturall life hee not Committinge anie
manner of wast or Spoyle And after the decease of my Sayd Sonne
William I give and bequeath the Sayd part of my Cottage or Tennem[en]t
unto William Broxon my grandchilde Sonne of the Saide William my
Sonne and to the heires of his body lawfully to bee begotten And
for want of Such issue to the Second Sonne of my Sayd Sonne William
Broxon and to the heires of his body lawfully to bee begotten And
for want of Such issue I bequeath the Sayd premises to the Third
Sonne of the Sayd William my Sonne and to the heires of his body
lawfully to bee begotten And for want of Such issue to the right
heires of William Broxon my Sonne Forever. Item I give and bequeath
unto Judith Brinkloe my daughter the some of one Shillinge. Item
I give and bequeath unto Charles Brinkloe Elizabeth Brinkloe Margarett
Brinkloe and Joane Brinkloe my grandchildren Sonne and daughters
of my Sayde daughter Judith to each of them the Somme of Fifty
Shillings a peece of Currant English monie to bee payd them by
my Executrix within three moneths after my decease And in Case
anie of my Sayde grandchildren Shall happen to depart this life
before their Sayde Legacies Shall become due Then I give the Same
Legacies of Such of my grandchildren deceased unto the Survivor
or Survivors of them equally to bee devided Item I give and bequeath
unto Jane Felce my daughter the Somme of one Shillinge. Item
I give and bequeath unto John Felce George Felce Anne Felce and
Elizabeth Felce my grand Children Sonns and daughters of my Sayd
daughter Jane to each of them Fifty Shillings a peece of Currant
English monie to bee payd to them by my Executrix within three
moneths after my decease And in the Case anie of my Sayd grandchildren
Shall happen to depart this life before the Sayd Legacies Shall
become due Then I give the Same Legacies of Such my grandchildren
deceased unto the Survivor or Survivors of them equally to bee
devided Item I give and bequeath unto Mary my welbeloved wife and
yoake Followe[ing?] the Lopp of all my Trees Consistinge of Oake
ash or Elme now Standinge or beinge uppon the ground belongeing
to my Sayd Freehold Cottage or Tenement in the occupation of my
Sayd Sonns John and William or uppon anie part thereof with free
liberty for my Sayde wife her Executors or assignes att any tyme
within Six moneths after my decease to Lopp Cutt fetch and Carry
way the Same at her and their owne Free will and pleasure. Item
my will and meaninge is And I doe hereby grant ordaine and bequeath
that in case my Sayde wife Mary Shall at anie tyme after my decease
demarnd and recover of in and out of my Sayde Freehold Cottage
or Tenement in the occupation of the Sayd John and William my Sonnes
or their Severall heires then Surviveinge the Somme of Thirteene
pounds Six Shillings and eight pence of Currant English monie That
is to Say to each of them Six pounds thirteene Shillings and foure
pence a peece to bee payde to them by my Executrix within one moneth
next after the Claime or recovery of Such Thirds All the Rest of
my goods Chattles Cattell howsehold Stuffe Implements of howsehold
and moveables whatsoever not herein before bequeathed I doe give
and bequeath unto Mary my Sayde wife whom I make Sole Executrix
of this my present Testament to See my debts payde my Legacies
and Funerall Expences discharged And my body decently brought to
the Earth In Witnes whereof I the Sayd John Broxon have hereunto
Sett my hand and Seale The day and yeare above written And declared
this to bee my last will and Testament: The marke of John Broxon.
