January the three and twentieth An[n]o Domini one
thousand six hundred seventie seven in the nyne and twentieth yeare
of his Majesties Reigne I John Baynard of Heath and Reach in the
Parish of Layton Budezard in the County of Bedford Clerke doe in
the day and yeare abovewritten make and ordaine this my last will
and Testament in maner and forme following; My dayes are extinct,
the Grave is readie for mee; Let the dirt be returned to the Earth
as it was, And the Spirit to God that gave it, With whome I long
to be through the Merits of Jesus Christ in an Estate of perfect
holiness and happiness forever: That outward estate that God hath
gratiously given his servant I dispose of as followeth: Inprimis,
To my Kinswoman Rebekah Evans I give & bequeath tenn pounds
in money, one Coverlid, one featherbedd, and two paire of Blankets,
two paire of sheets: Item to Mary Glover (a gratious good woman)
I give and bequeath tenn pounds in money: Item to Sarah Smith of
Harborough and Frances Lee of Burton Latimar (both hopefully good)
I give and bequeath tenn pounds apeece in money: Item to Jane Mossenden
of Harborough and Elizabeth Cox of Kettering I give and bequeath
tow pounds apeice in money:. And whereas John Lawford of Ketering
oweth mee an hundred pounds upon Bond I give and bequeath the one
halfe of it unto his Sonne John Lawford whome hee had by his first
wife; All the aforesaid legacies to be payd two yeares after my
decease: All the rest of my Goods Chatells movables and imovables
I give and bequeath to Anne Merydale the wife of Danvers Merydale
(my true and faithfull Servant) whome I make sole Executrix of
this my last Will and Testament: Item to the Poore of Reach I give
tenn Pounds, to be disposed of as Danvers Merydale shall think
