In the name of God Amen ~/~ the Twelveth day of August in the yeare of \our/ Lord one Thousand six hundred Fiftie seaven I Thomas Chesheire of Leighton Budesart al[ia]s Bussard in the County of Bedford yeoman being of hole mind & in good & perfect remembrance (blessed bee God) doe make and ordaine this my p[re]sent Testament concerning here in my last will in manner & form following, First & principally I doe comend my soule into the mercie full hands of Almighty God my Maker and Redeemer And my body to the earth to bee decently buried according to my degree and calling And as touching my worldly and Temporall estate w[hi]ch God hath lent mee in this world I despose of is as followeth Item I give and bequeath unto John Chesheire my sonne and unto Thomas Chesheire my sonne All those my household goods which I have now remaineing in the house of my said sonne John Chesheire in Whitchurch to bee equally devided betweene them I will that if hee the said John will pay unto him the said Thomas Forty pounds of good and lawfull mony of England w[i]thin six monthes next after my decease, That then hee the said John shall have and enjoy all the aforesaid goods wholly to himselfe Notwithstanding my Former guift to the Contrary Item I give and bequeath unto my said sonne Thomas Chesheire Fifty pounds of good and lawfull money of England to bee paid unto him by my Executrix hereafter named within one whole yeare next after my decease, Item I will and bequeath unto my sonne George Chesheire all my Lands Tenements, hereditaments: with thappurtenances scituate lying and being within the towne, Feilds and parish of Leighton Budesart al[ia]s Bussard in the said County of Bedford to him & his heires forever, to enter upon when hee shall accomplish and come to the age of one and Twenty yeares Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Chesheire Fifty pounds of good and lawfull mony of England to be paid unto hir by my sonne George w[i]thin one whole yeare next after hee cometh to age to enter upon his land which I have before in this my will bequeathed unto him, which said Land I doe hereby charge with the payment of the said Fifty pounds, Item I doe alsoe give and bequeath unto my said Daughter Elizabeth Chesheire one hundred and Fiftie pounds of good & lawfull mony of England to bee paid unto hir by my Executrix hereafter named when shee shall accomplish and come to the age of Eighteene yeares Item my will is that if my said sonne George Chesheire shall die and depart this life before hee cometh to the age of one and Twenty yeares, That then all the said Lands Tenenments and Hereditaments with their appurtenances which I have in this my will bequeathed unto him I doe will give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth and her heires forever, to Enter upon att hir age of one and Twenty yeares And that if my Daughter Elizabeth shall dye and depart this life before shee comes to age to receive hir porc[i]on before by mee appoint That then hir part and portion of one hundred & Fifty pounds shall bee whollie paid unto my sonne George when hee shall accomplish and come to the age of one and Twenty yeares as aforesaid, But if itt happen that my sonne George and my Daughter Elizabeth shall both of them die and depart this life before they come to age, That then both his and hir part and porc[i]on I doo will give and bequeath unto my other two sonnes John and Thomas and their heires for ever to bee equally devided betweene them, Item I give & bequeath unto my wives Foure children (vizt.) Mary, Anne, Edmond & John Coles Twenty shillings a peece Item I give and bequeath unto Barnard Hall & Bennett Hall, twenty shillings a peece, to bee paid unto them as they shall accomplish & come to the age of one and Twenty yeares Item I give & bequeath unto the poore people of Leighton aforesaid Fortie shillings And to the poore people of Whitchurch forty shillings to bee distributed amongst them at the discretion of Executrix & Overseers w[i]thin one Month next after my decease, All the rest and residue of all my goods Cattells and Chattells unbequeathed my body being buried my funerall & expences performed my debts and Legacies paid I doe wholly give and bequeath unto Phillipp my loveing wife for and towards her maintenance & the bringing up & Educac[i]on of my Children And I doe make and ordaine hir the said Phillipp to bee my sole and whole Executrix of this my present Testam[en]t and I doe nominate and appoint my Brother George Chesheire my kinsman Thomas Greene, Marke Wilkes, of Leighton gent[leman], Edward Elliott and Joseph Coles to be my Overseers of this my present Testament, And I give them for their paines in that behalfe Twenty shillings a peece And I doe revoake and annull all other former Testaments by mee heretofore made In wittnes whereof I the said Thomas Chesheire have to this my present Testam[en]t sett to my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written./// Thomas Chesheire./ Sealed signed and acknowledged in the presence of./// Marke Wilkes./// Edward Elliott./// Joseph Coles.///
